Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Key Takeaways AI fails when layered onto fragmented systems instead of integrated workflows Operating model — not AI strategy — is the true bottleneck to scalable growth Orchestrated systems, data and agents unlock real enterprise value from AI Not long ago, I sat in a boardroom where a leadership team proudly announced its latest AI initiative. They had invested in new tools, hired consultants and launched pilot programs across multiple departments.Six months later, those pilots were still running, but nothing had fundamentally changed. Productivity hadn’t meaningfully improved, costs hadn’t dropped and growth…

Alibaba’s net income fell 66% year-over-year (YOY) for 2025’s fourth quarter while it invested heavily in AI. In total, net income dropped from 46.4 billion Chinese yuan ($6.8 billion) to 15.6 billion Chinese yuan ($2.27 billion). The downturn is one of multiple disappointments in the Chinese technology giant’s latest financial results, announced Thursday, March 19. Alibaba also reported a 71% decrease in diluted earnings per share YOY.  Higher cloud revenue, but not high enough Even Alibaba’s revenue, which rose 2% YOY, failed to meet expectations. Published March 19, 2026 03:04AMScientists have long known that air quality affects running. It was a major concern in the 2008 Summer Olympics, for example, when runners had to compete under infamously polluted conditions in Beijing, China. Not to mention what many Americans have discovered back home, when their running routes are so choked with forest fire smoke that visibility is cut to only a couple of miles. But it isn’t just the air you breathe outside while training and racing that matters. At the UAE Tour, a premiere seven-day cycling stage race in February, early leader Remco Evenepoel fell…

(Photo: Marc Hom)Published March 19, 2026 05:00AMThere’s a question at the heart of our Spring 2026 Issue: What happens when you test a hypothesis about yourself that you’ve been too comfortable to examine? Maybe it’s sleeping somewhere with no walls between you and the cicadas and feeling, for the first time, genuinely at ease. Maybe it’s standing at the bottom of Patagonia at the edge of the world, or lying on your back in a desert…

Prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi have hit the headlines—not least because of their role in making some people filthy rich off the back of the Middle Eastern war. But they’ve also drawn the attention of legislators concerned about their growing prominence. Many officials have privately raised concerns about platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi. Arizona’s attorney general has gone further, charging Kalshi with offering what the state alleges are illegal bets on election outcomes. “Kalshi may brand itself as a ‘prediction market,’ but what it’s actually doing is running an illegal gambling operation and taking bets on Arizona elections, both…

When electricity demand is set to surge—say, from a new power-hungry data center—the default response from a utility is often to build a new (and expensive) power plant and other infrastructure. A new report released by a cross-industry coalition called Utilize argues that we can make better use of existing power on the grid instead. Roughly half of the total capacity goes unused most of the time because the grid was built to meet spikes in demand. But as technology has shifted, it’s become easier to unlock that extra power. Smart thermostats, for example, can pre-cool your house when demand…

An unseasonably warm November breeze frees leaves from the tree, fallen foliage swirling around the group that has gathered around the trunk. Somewhere, Morgan Wallen plays faintly from a Bluetooth speaker. We stare up at the canopy and the man’s lifeless form, waiting. His name is Camper Kyle, and he’s a dummy. He’s also the de facto star of the Aerial Rescue event, one of five in today’s Georgia Tree Climbing Championship. “EMTs have arrived!” yells a judge from the ground. Spoiler: There…

For the past two years, the dominant corporate conversation around artificial intelligence has been painfully predictable. Executives talk about productivity, copilots, efficiency gains, and cost savings. Boards demand AI road maps. Consultants package urgency into slides. Entire organizations scramble to prove that they are “doing something with AI.” But beneath all that noise lies a much bigger shift, one that many companies still seem determined not to see: AI is not simply a tool for making organizations more efficient. It is a technology that changes the minimum viable size of an organization. And once that happens, many of the assumptions…
