The closure of all four of the nearly 50-year-old chain\u2019s locations was a shock to its loyal fans\u2014and since then, many have been left wondering exactly why the chain shuttered its doors. Now we know.<\/p>\n
While not widely known outside of Minnesota, Gina Maria\u2019s Pizza was a locally cherished pizza joint in the Minneapolis area. <\/p>\n
According to an Internet Archive capture<\/a> of its now-defunct website, Gina Maria\u2019s Pizza was founded in 1975, when it opened its first location in Minnetonka, Minnesota.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The chain served a small collection of staples that its customers adored, including custom-made pizzas, cheesy bread, and specialty subs.<\/p>\n But in October, Gina Maria\u2019s Pizza abruptly closed all its locations. An Internet Archive archive of the company\u2019s website from November 10 revealed that the chain<\/a> posted a simple goodbye message on its website.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter many wonderful years of serving our community, we want to share the difficult news that Gina Maria\u2019s Pizza has officially closed its doors,\u201d the message read, adding, \u201cThis decision did not come easily.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
