Claim your payout: Class-action lawsuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<br \/><\/p>\n<div data-testid=\"content-chunk\">\n<p>If you bought Tom\u2019s of Maine toothpaste in the last six years, you could be eligible for a cash payout stemming from a recent <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.toothpastesettlement.com\/\">$2.9 million settlement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"content-chunk\">\n<p>The class-action lawsuit filed against Tom\u2019s parent company, Colgate-Palmolive Company, \u201calleged deceptive and misleading business practices with respect to the manufacturing, marketing, and sale\u201d of certain toothpaste products.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tom\u2019s is best known for its natural products. The toothpaste products were produced at its manufacturing facility in Sanford, Maine, where the company also makes deodorant and bar soap, and sold to consumers through third-party retailers.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-s-the-issue-in-the-class-action-lawsuit\">What\u2019s the issue in the class-action lawsuit?<\/h2>\n<p>During a May 2024 inspection of Tom\u2019s Sanford manufacturing facility, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raised concerns that certain conditions at the facility \u201cwere not in compliance its Current Good Manufacturing Processes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"content-chunk\">\n<p>Following the inspection, a review of \u201cpre-release testing data for approximately 4,900 finished toothpastes manufactured over a three-year period [. . .] found that no batch showed a safety risk to consumers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuits involved are:\u00a0<em>Denny v. Colgate-Palmolive Co.<\/em>, Case No. 24-cv-02129 (M.D. Fla.);\u00a0<em>Rabinowitz v. Colgate-Palmolive Co.<\/em>, Index No. 622019\/2024 (N.Y. Sup. Ct.);\u00a0<em>Pitre v. Colgate-Palmolive Co.<\/em>, Case No. 4:24-cv-09318 (N.D. Cal.);\u00a0<em>Foreman v. Colgate-Palmolive Co.<\/em>, Case No. 3:25-cv-00314 (S.D. Cal.);\u00a0<em>Zetterstrom v. Colgate-Palmolive Co.<\/em>, Case No. 25-cv-02151 (S.D.N.Y.); and\u00a0<em>Rabinowitz et al. v. Colgate-Palmolive Company et al.<\/em>, No. 2:25-cv-6996 (JMW) (E.D.N.Y.)<\/p>\n<p><em>Fast Company<\/em> has reached out to Tom\u2019s for comment.
