In Episode 5 of his new five-part travel series \u201cGet a Little Out There with Alex Honnold,\u201d Alex sets out to experience the state\u2019s western heritage with silversmithing, cowboy poetry, and a tasty dive into the state\u2019s historic Basque culture. Hiking to the top of the Ruby Mountains, via Hennen Canyon, means ascending almost 5,000 feet in just under 5 miles. Yes, a thousand feet per mile is steep. But the reward\u2014including a stop at lovely Griswold Lake and 360-degree views from the summit\u2014is well worth the effort. Want to make it a longer outing?
