The feature allows users to book hotel rooms directly in the Uber app, similar to how they\u2019d hail a ride or order food through Uber Eats.<\/p>\n<p>Khosrowshahi said that travel was Uber\u2019s \u201cnext frontier,\u201d and that \u201ctaking all of the complexity\u201d related to booking travel \u201cand making it as easy to get an Uber\u201d was \u201conly natural\u201d for the company.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can go, you can get, and now, you can travel,\u201d he said during the event. Adding that the partnership with Expedia\u2014which will list some 700,000 hotel properties through Uber\u2019s platform\u2014is \u201cthe perfect marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"content-chunk\">\n<p>Additionally, Ariane Gorin, the CEO of Expedia, made an appearance, reiterating how natural of a fit it is for the two companies to work together. \u201cWhere Uber can take you, we can help you stay,\u201d she said, adding that the combined powers of the two companies can, ultimately, \u201csave people time and money.\u201d Separately, Uber also announced that every single property on VRBO, a vacation rentals site, will be on the Uber platform as well later this year. Booking hotels through Uber could also net discounts and Uber One credits for members.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, saving time was the overarching theme of the event. The company also rolled out more new features:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Eats for the Way: <\/strong>The ability for users to pre-order coffee, tea, or a snack with Uber Black in some markets.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Travel Mode: <\/strong>A new \u201cexperience\u201d within the Uber and Uber Eats apps that offers up recommendations, depending on where, specifically, the user is. For instance, travelers in a new city will get restaurant recommendations, points of interest, and even a new \u201croom service\u201d feature allowing them to order Uber Eats directly to their hotel room.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Shop for Me: <\/strong>Shop for Me allows users to request goods or items from any store out there\u2014not just the ones that are on the Uber platform. The app will find a courier who then goes out and gets the item, no matter how specific.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cart Assistant:<\/strong> An AI-powered feature allowing users to create shopping lists from image uploads or text prompts. It can also work within a certain budget, and develop meal plans as well.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Voice Bookings:<\/strong> Another AI feature that debuted was the ability to book rides with verbal prompts. For example, a user could say, out loud, \u201cbook me a ride to the airport with enough room for five people,\u201d and an AI assistant will make the necessary arrangements.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In all, it\u2019s a push for Uber to become an \u201ceverything\u201d platform and squeeze into competing spaces, particularly in the travel-booking industry.
