It\u2019s planted beneath a skylight in the center of a white-painted circular lobby furnished with a sleek aluminum reception desk and built-in wood banquette that follows the curve of the walls.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"content-chunk\">\n<p>The tree and the room are symbolic. The former references trees in <em>The Little Princ<\/em>e, a 1943 novella with a character who travels between planets, and the latter has the same diameter of a Haven-1 module, which the Vast team hopes will become home to researchers, astronauts, and travelers and eventually succeed the International Space Station.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are these timeless stories of, \u2018Why is humanity reaching for the stars? Here on Earth, they\u2019re also inventing new types of workspaces for this growing industry, which is <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/space-tourism-market-size-reach-123600004.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">expected to reach $87 billion by 2035<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"content-chunk\">\n<p>Vast\u2019s new 49,000-square-foot headquarters, a collaboration between its in-house team and the New York-based multidisciplinary design studio <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.civilianprojects.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Civilian<\/a>, does all those things, in a sophisticated expression of how architecture can support high-performance work and reinforce brand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-form-empowering-function\">\u201cForm empowering function\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>The space is minimalist, with polished concrete floors, custom-made white oak doors, and a palette of white and gray.
