\u201cNo more reading emails, OK?\u201d says tech founder and content creator Jason Yeager\u2019s satirical boss character MyTechCeo in a recent TikTok skit<\/a>.\u00a0 \u201cI want your AI reading my AI-generated email\u2014and answering my email.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n But if you receive a message that was likely written by AI, especially in the midst of a disagreement, you can tell\u2014something\u2019s off.<\/p>\n It sounds a little too well drafted. The tone is reasonable and balanced. And while the problems are addressed, there\u2019s something missing: the voice of the person you\u2019re communicating with. (A dead giveaway, of course, is when the prompt is left in.)<\/p>\n Emails may sound smoother this way, but experts worry that outsourcing difficult conversations also bypasses the relationship-building that makes workplaces function. When you ask a chatbot to rewrite your message to be more \u201cconcise\u201d or \u201cprofessional,\u201d it can also strip away the emotional substance of the exchange\u2014an act that may be shaping the future of work for the worse, incubating a generation of professionals who can\u2019t talk to one another.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
