Even in the best<\/em> of times, heading to an airport can be an unpredictable headache. Now, in the midst of our current U.S. TSA meltdown, security wait times are climbing to crazy new highs. And the effects of that can often ripple far, even if you\u2019re lucky enough to begin your journey in an airport (within the U.S. or without) that\u2019s reasonably all right.<\/p>\n

Today, for an especially timely Cool Tools suggestion, I want to share a trio of resources with you that\u2019ll help you see exactly<\/em> what to expect before you head to the airport\u2014and thus be able to plan and be prepared for how much time you\u2019ll need to get to your gate.<\/p>\n

These resources will be absolutely invaluable now, but they can also be useful anytime\u2014even when we aren\u2019t<\/em> in the midst of an unusually chaotic moment in air travel.<\/p>\n

Now more than ever, relying on genuinely human, crowdsourced estimates of airport security line wait times is the best bet you\u2019ve got.<\/p>\n

\u279c And the good news is that some smart, up-to-date resources exist that offer exactly that kind of insight for airports within the U.S. and beyond\u2014on demand, anytime, and without any costs or complications.<\/p>\n

\u231a In fact, you can find the info you need in as little as a single minute<\/strong> with any of these sites.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udca1 Each has a slightly different strength and set of data, so it\u2019s well worth your while to hang onto all \u2019em and keep \u2019em handy for the next time you need to travel.<\/p>\n

Up first is Flighty Airports\u200b<\/strong><\/a>\u2014a simple single-page website that shows you delays and disruptions at any airport around the world in both an interactive map and a list-based view. You can click on any specific airport in the map or the list to view more detailed info, and you can use the search box at the top of the site to look up any airport anywhere in the world, even if it isn\u2019t appearing prominently on the page to start.<\/p>\n

Flighty Airports lets you see live delays at airports worldwide.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Next is the aptly named TSA Wait Times\u200b<\/strong><\/a>. This one, as you\u2019d expect from its title, is <\/em>limited only to U.S. airports\u2014but it\u2019s a solid set of secondary data that can help confirm any trends for such locations and give you an even more accurate view of what\u2019s happening on the ground.<\/p>\n
