It\u2019s like having a friend who codes and is happy to add whatever small feature you ask for.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How Glaze is different:&nbsp;Unlike other vibe coding tools, like&nbsp;Lovable,&nbsp;Bolt,&nbsp;Gemini Canvas,&nbsp;Google\u2019s AI Studio, or&nbsp;Claude Artifacts, Glaze creates software that runs&nbsp;locally&nbsp;on your computer, not on the web. That means:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your apps work offline.<\/li>\n<li>Your data stays on your machine.<\/li>\n<li>Apps you make benefit from your computer\u2019s file system, keyboard shortcuts, menu bar integration, and background processes. They\u2019re more like real software than the browser apps other vibe coding tools generate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Platform and Pricing:&nbsp;<\/strong>It\u2019s Mac-only for now. Explain in detail what kind of app or game you want.<\/li>\n<li>As Glaze prepares your app, it may ask about your feature or design preferences. Answer those questions.<\/li>\n<li>Once you\u2019re happy with Glaze\u2019s plan, which it will summarize for you, tell it to build. Then test the app and ask for improvements.<\/li>\n<li>Keep your app private or publish it to a group or the public store.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"h-pro-tips\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pro Tips<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Customize Glaze\u2019s Instructions.&nbsp;<\/strong>Summarize your preferences in Glaze\u2019s settings. That way your apps will have your preferred design elements or features.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Include options for your apps.&nbsp;<\/strong>Instruct Glaze to give anyone using your app choices. In my&nbsp;<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.glaze.app\/app\/quotepop-ASjIay\">QuotePop<\/a>&nbsp;app, for example, you can pick your image dimensions, background color, and font.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Plan first.<\/strong>&nbsp;The clearer you are about what you want before Glaze starts building, the fewer credits you\u2019ll burn on rework. Put Glaze in planning mode to start. Or, if you already pay for another AI tool like&nbsp;<strong>Claude<\/strong>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<strong>ChatGPT<\/strong>, plan there and give Glaze a summary. That saves your Glaze credits for building.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Iterate to improve.&nbsp;<\/strong>Once Glaze builds the first version of your app, give it a list of fixes to improve the app\u2019s design or make it easier to use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"h-limitations\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Limitations<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mac only<\/strong>&nbsp;for now. No specific timeline for Windows and Linux.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Credits for complex apps may be costly.<\/strong>&nbsp;More intricate iterations use more credits. If you\u2019re using Glaze for free, you may run out of credits and have to pay for more. If you\u2019re making multiple complex apps, expect to pay $20\/month for a subscription, at least while you\u2019re building and refining.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Local only, not mobile.<\/strong>&nbsp;If you use multiple computers, you\u2019ll have to install and use Glaze separately on each. You won\u2019t be able to use your apps on your phone or tablet, as you can with web apps.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"h-alternatives\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alternatives<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/lovable.dev\/\">Lovable<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;lets you create sites and apps with no code. Start with a text prompt, attach a screenshot of something you like, or build on the&nbsp;<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/lovable.dev\/templates\">template gallery<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/bolt.new\/\">Bolt<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;also lets you make a web app or landing page with AI prompts. You can use your brand guidelines to match company designs.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/claude.ai\/\">Claude Artifacts<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;works well for quick interactives like flashcards, quizzes, calculators, minigames, and simple visualizations. Unlike Glaze, Claude Artifacts and the other alternatives noted here don\u2019t create local software that lives on your computer.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/gemini.google\/overview\/canvas\/\">Gemini Canvas<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;is easy to use for building apps, games, dashboards, or interactive infographics inside Gemini. Feed in a document to have Canvas design an app around it. Make a quiz game from your vocabulary list, or a dashboard from your metrics file.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Google<\/strong>&nbsp;has several other good free options. Each has useful templates to help get you started.&nbsp;<strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/aistudio.google.com\/\">AI Studio<\/a><\/strong> is its most powerful, though the interface can be intimidating for beginners.&nbsp;<strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/stitch.withgoogle.com\/\">Stitch<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;lets you vibe code mobile app designs.
