Let\u2019s make sure you get there with your Connections <\/em>streak intact.<\/p>\n The World Cup is finally underway and it\u2019s been a long, long road to get there for many of the teams and fans. One Scotland fan traveled further than most. Craig Ferguson spent the last few months walking from Los Angeles to Boston \u2013 all while wearing a kilt \u2013 to help raise awareness of mental health issues. <\/p>\n I\u2019m sure there\u2019ll be a lot of Scotland fans who are happy to buy him a pint at our first game of the tournament against Haiti tomorrow. It\u2019s a lovely group of folks. You\u2019re more than welcome to join us. <\/p>\n Today\u2019s NYT<\/em> Connections <\/em>hints and answers for Friday, June 12 are coming right up. Let\u2019s get rolling!<\/p>\n Connections <\/em>is a free New York Times <\/em>daily word game that you can play on the NYT<\/em>\u2019s website or Games app. If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the Connections <\/em>archive, which includes every previous game.<\/p>\n Connections <\/em>presents you with a grid of 16 words (sometimes phrases, symbols or numbers). The aim is to arrange them into four groups of four. You don\u2019t know how they hit together or what the category for each group is: that\u2019s what you have to figure out.<\/p>\n There\u2019s only one correct solution and there are often red herrings. You can guess incorrectly three times. A fourth wrong guess, and it\u2019s game over.<\/p>\n Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to deduce, followed by blue, green and purple. Often, the yellow and green groups have synonyms, the blues have cultural references and the purples have some kind of wordplay involved. But this is not a hard and fast rule. Be ready for curveballs \u2013 part of the fun of Connections<\/em> is in how the NYT <\/em>shakes things up to keep you on your toes.<\/p>\n As with Wordle<\/em> and similar games, it\u2019s easy to share results with your friends using an emoji-based grid. The game tracks your progress too.<\/p>\n Many players take pride in having long win streaks or getting a reverse rainbow \u2013 correctly guessing the purple, blue, green and yellow groups in that order with no mistakes. PRIDE and SCHOOL got me to the greens; COPY and ECHO did the same for the blues; and DELTA enlightened me as to the purple connection.<\/p>\n That gives me a 467th win in a row to wrap up the week.<\/p>\n How did you get on this time?
