But I did have something valuable to say in fragrance and in personal care.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-founding-a-fragrance-and-personal-care-brand-samir-grey\">Founding a fragrance and personal care brand: Samir Grey<\/h2>\n<p>Spence was passionate about developing a fragrance and personal care brand rooted in approachable luxury and restorative rituals, so he founded <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/samirgrey.co\/\">Samir Grey<\/a>, the name a riff on his middle name and favorite color.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The founder lost his mother to colon cancer, and he sees Samir Grey as a \u201clove letter\u201d to her, as well as a way to carry her legacy forward. \u201cMy mom and the women that were around me were the full inspiration \u2014 watching women and how they sacrifice themselves to take care of the world, essentially,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>Samir Grey launched its fragrance <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/samirgrey.co\/products\/one\">ONE<\/a>, with notes of candied peach and vanilla, in August 2025. I just wanted her to have it in her presence because who knows what the future could have held.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When Spence woke up on a Saturday morning this past April, the first thing he saw was a video of Rowland that Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s mother, Tina Knowles, had posted. Rowland and Beyonc\u00e9 were both in the music group <em>Destiny\u2019s Child <\/em>from 1990 to 2006.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rowland was doing her hair in Knowles\u2019 video, and Spence spotted his fragrance in the frame.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>An \u201cavid comment reader,\u201d Spence began scrolling through the thousands left beneath the post. People kept asking about the perfume in the video, and Spence responded letting them know it was Samir Grey\u2019s ONE.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Within two hours, Samir Grey sold out of its inventory anticipated to last two weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u200aIt boosted things tremendously,\u201d Spence recalls. \u201cOur spike in site sessions that day was about 5X. Our email list had grown 3X to 4X during that time. He recalls a recent conversation he had on TikTok Live with a young woman, who proudly shared that she wears the same fragrance as Rowland.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u200aI love that,\u201d Spence says. \u201cThat\u2019s what a lot of consumers are feeling. Like when Hailey Bieber started wearing Cyklar, people ran to get Cyklar. There\u2019s that consumer psychology of, <em>If they have it, it must be really good<\/em>.
