The park is reviewing a video showing a DJ performing on a mountainside with apparent drone footage.<!-- --> (Photo: Moonstone Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"article-body\">\n<p>Published October 23, 2026 03:47PM<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2758705\" class=\"pom-image-wrap photo-alignnone\"\/>\n<p>A DJ\u2019s mountainside performance <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"article-content-link text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/JacksonHole\/comments\/1x5w9y5\/jackson_hole_video_no_fear_edition\/\">video<\/a> has drawn online criticism for aerial footage reportedly filmed in Grand Teton National Park, where unauthorized drone operations carry federal criminal penalties.<\/p>\n<p>According to Wyoming newspaper <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"article-content-link text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jhnewsandguide.com\/news\/environmental\/local\/after-filming-dj-set-on-blacktail-butte-drone-pilot-wipes-internet-presence\/article_c46cdf29-dffe-44a7-aa30-17a1241af73a.html\"><em>Jackson Hole News and Guide<\/em><\/a>, a YouTube user posted drone clips on October 14 that showed a man in a green jacket mixing music at Blacktail Butte, a 7,000-foot mountain in the park.<\/p>\n<p><em>Outside<\/em> reached out to the video creator but did not receive a response at the time of publication.<\/p>\n<p>Emily Davis, Grand Teton National Park spokesperson, told <em>Outside<\/em> that officials are aware of the footage, but did not specify the filming location, whether the drone operator had written authorization, or whether rangers had issued citations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDrones can disturb or displace wildlife, create noise, detract from the natural soundscape and scenic views, and pose safety hazards to visitors,\u201d Davis told\u00a0<em>Outside<\/em>. \u201cUnauthorized flights can also ground aerial search-and-rescue missions and wildland firefighting operations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"h-full w-72\" src=\"https:\/\/embed.reddit.com\/r\/JacksonHole\/comments\/1x5w9y5\/jackson_hole_video_no_fear_edition\/\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><iframe style=\"width:100%;border:none;display:block\" title=\"Script Content\" async=\"\" charset=\"UTF-8\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Drones Are Prohibited in National Parks<\/h2>\n<p>In 2014, the National Park Service (NPS) <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"article-content-link text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/articles\/uncrewed-aircraft-in-the-national-parks.htm?\">banned drones<\/a> at all 433 NPS-managed sites without written approval from the park superintendent. Violators face a $5,000 fine and up to six months in jail.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first time recreational drones have sparked controversy in national parks.<\/p>\n<p>In May 2026, a visitor in neighboring Yellowstone National Park filmed an unauthorized drone flying within feet of a famous grizzly sow, Beryl, and her two cubs along a roadway, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"article-content-link text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/cowboystatedaily.com\/2026\/05\/28\/madder-than-hell-famous-mother-grizzly-harassed-by-illegal-drone-in-yellowstone\/\"><em>Cowboy State Daily<\/em><\/a> reported. The issue spans more than a decade. Back in 2014, a drone crashed into Yellowstone\u2019s Grand Prismatic Spring, and another plunged into Yellowstone Lake that same year.<\/p>\n<p>Reddit commenters questioned whether the apparent drone flight violated park rules, with one urging others to alert park officials.<\/p>\n<p>Other drone incidents have drawn attention in Wyoming\u2019s national parks, too. In 2017, Grand Teton rangers asked the public for help identifying a drone operator after an aircraft hovered over grizzly bears near Oxbow Bend.
