More than a decade ago, the beam director on the U.S. Army\u2019s truck-mounted 10-kilowatt <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dvidshub.net\/news\/149106\/laser-defense-system-under-test-white-sands\">High Energy Laser Mobile Demonstrator<\/a> (HEL MD) was <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/2014\/09\/armys-new-laser-cannon-blasts-drones-out-of-the-sky-even-in-fog\/\">operated<\/a> using an Xbox handset.
