In a video, recorded and livestreamed on Facebook by Bryan Polanco, <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.univision.com\/local\/washington-dc-wfdc\/ice-arresta-seis-trabajadores-guatemaltecos-remodelacion-casa-maryland\">a co-worker with permanent residency<\/a>, from the roof of the property, federal agents can be seen waiting on the lawn for the workers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"content-chunk\" class=\"content-chunk\">\n<p>X account <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/LongTimeHistory\/status\/2036966623995724180\">@LongTimeHistory<\/a>, which posted a clip from the video, alleges the woman owed the workers $10,000. In the video, which now has millions of views, Polanco says: \u201cWe came to fix this lady\u2019s house, and she\u2019s the one who turned us in. Fixing up her house and still with hatred in her heart.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Polanco repeated this when speaking to Univision DC, saying that she had told him she had planned to report the workers. \u201cWhat she did tell me, and I told one of the other guys, is that if immigrants come back again to finish the project, she\u2019s always going to call ICE,\u201d he told the outlet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The woman, who has been identified as Karen Trevino denies that she, or her father who owns the home and also appears in the video and <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/1645593140914784\">can be heard saying<\/a> that he is \u201cpro-ICE,\u201d had anything to do with reporting the workers. Trevino told <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baltimoresun.com\/2026\/03\/27\/cambridge-woman-ice-raid\/\">The Baltimore Sun<\/a> that she didn\u2019t make the call and she\u2019s worried for the safety of her family due to the backlash on social media. \u201cThey are accusing me of calling ICE when I didn\u2019t,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<section class=\"flex flex-col pb-6\" data-testid=\"newsletter-subscription-form\"\/>\n<div data-testid=\"content-chunk\" class=\"content-chunk\">\n<p>In a statement on Thursday, ICE said the raid was simply part of \u201ctargeted enforcement\u201d in the area. \u201cOf those arrested, several have final orders of removal \u2014 a felony \u2014 and one has been previously convicted of illegal reentry,\u201d an ICE spokesperson told The Sun. \u201cDuring the encounter, the aliens refused to comply with lawful orders, taunted officers and attempted to flee. The illegal aliens ultimately complied and were taken into custody.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Trevino denies that she reported the workers, she\u2019s earned the ire of social media. In multiple clips of the post which have been circulating across social media platforms, comments about \u201ckarma\u201d catching up to Trevino are rampant, <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/LongTimeHistory\/status\/2036966623995724180\">with some suggesting<\/a> that she should probably leave the country.<\/p>\n<p>While not entirely clear what happened that led to the ICE raid at this particular home, <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2026\/03\/04\/nx-s1-5717031\/ice-dhs-immigrants-surveillance-confrontation-deportation-mobile-fortify\">ICE is relying<\/a> on the public to report individuals they believe may be undocumented. A page on ICE\u2019s website gives the public information on how to report someone they believe may not have legal status in the U.S. The page also features a phone number where reports can be made completely anonymously. According to ICE, the page averages around 15,000 calls each month.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"content-chunk\" class=\"content-chunk\">\n<p>While it may be in a citizen\u2019s right to call ICE on someone they suspect doesn\u2019t have legal status, homeowners should be aware that calling authorities to avoid paying for services could be punishable by <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/law.justia.com\/codes\/maryland\/criminal-law\/title-3\/subtitle-7\/section-3-701\/\">Maryland law<\/a>, which states: \u201cA person may not obtain, attempt to obtain, or conspire to obtain money, property, labor, services, or anything of value from another person with the person\u2019s consent, if the consent is induced by wrongful use of actual or threatened \u2026 notification of law enforcement officials about another person\u2019s undocumented or illegal immigration status.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-chunk\"><em><\/p>\n<p>The extended deadline for Fast Company&#8217;s Best Workplaces for Innovators is Friday, April 3, at 11:59 p.m. PT.
