AI chatbots are supposed to be helpful. A new Stanford study suggests they can be dangerous. Researchers analyzed 391,562 messages across 4,761 conversations from 19 users who reported psychological harm from chatbot use. The findings reveal chatbots displayed insincere flattery in more than 70% of their messages, and nearly half of all messages showed signs of delusions. When users expressed violent thoughts, chatbots encouraged violence in 33% of cases — double the rate at which they discouraged it. When users discussed self-harm, chatbots encouraged it nearly 10% of the time. All 19 participants assigned personhood to their chatbots, and 15…
Published March 19, 2026 10:11AMOver the 15 years I’ve worked for Outside, I’ve tested more than 300 jackets. A new batch arrives each fall, and each spring, most leave my closet for the donation box. But there’s one type of jacket that always sticks around in my garage: the breathable midlayer. I hoard these jackets because they work so well here in New Mexico, where I live. They keep me warm in the ski mountain parking lot at 6 a.m. when it’s 15 degrees, but let off extra heat once I get on the skin track. They also fit well…
It’s a tough time out there for creatives. Whether you’re a writer, director, actor, or artist of any kind, the world is short on opportunities—particuarly the kind that pay. But even Academy Award winners like screenwriter and director Barry Jenkins didn’t have a linear path to success, as he shared in a recent panel about how to sustain a career as a filmmaker. Jenkins, the writer-director behind Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk, was a panelist at “Behind the Chair: Representation and the Business of Filmmaking,” a seminar on the film industry hosted by the Directors Guild of America.…
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Key Takeaways A massive study on day traders revealed that a mere 3% make money, underscoring the pivotal role of emotion in trading success. Advancements in AI are transforming the trading landscape, providing tools that enable traders to operate systematically and without emotional bias. AI-driven indicators and automation equip individual traders with institutional-level discipline, potentially altering the predominantly negative success rate. Most people don’t realize how brutal trading really is.In one of the largest studies ever conducted on trader performance, researchers analyzed 19,646 day traders over 300 trading days. Their conclusion was…
Published March 19, 2026 08:00AMHey there, adventure rig owner. Are you interested in making your truck slower and less fuel-efficient? Harder to U-turn and park? Want to increase stress on driveline components—and make it significantly harder to stop?I didn’t think so. And yet, slapping on bigger tires is often the first thing a lot of overlanders (myself included) do after buying a new truck. I learned this lesson the hard way nearly 20 years ago when I lifted a 2000 Jeep Cherokee and turned it into an off-road beast. In the process, I ruined what had been a practical, capable,…
For decades, in the name of workplace equality we’ve encouraged women to enter male-dominated professions because those jobs are better paid, more prestigious, and more powerful. Women engineers. Women in tech. Women in leadership. That agenda still matters but it is not enough. One of the great blind spots of our time is that we rarely ask the opposite question with equal seriousness: why are we doing so little to bring men into professions dominated by women? We do need many more men in care professions — nursing, teaching, social work, child care, elder care, and support services. The gender…
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Key Takeaways AI fails when layered onto fragmented systems instead of integrated workflows Operating model — not AI strategy — is the true bottleneck to scalable growth Orchestrated systems, data and agents unlock real enterprise value from AI Not long ago, I sat in a boardroom where a leadership team proudly announced its latest AI initiative. They had invested in new tools, hired consultants and launched pilot programs across multiple departments.Six months later, those pilots were still running, but nothing had fundamentally changed. Productivity hadn’t meaningfully improved, costs hadn’t dropped and growth…
Alibaba’s net income fell 66% year-over-year (YOY) for 2025’s fourth quarter while it invested heavily in AI. In total, net income dropped from 46.4 billion Chinese yuan ($6.8 billion) to 15.6 billion Chinese yuan ($2.27 billion). The downturn is one of multiple disappointments in the Chinese technology giant’s latest financial results, announced Thursday, March 19. Alibaba also reported a 71% decrease in diluted earnings per share YOY. Higher cloud revenue, but not high enough Even Alibaba’s revenue, which rose 2% YOY, failed to meet expectations. The company reached 284.8 billion Chinese yuan ($41.4 billion) in revenue for quarter four, falling…
Published March 19, 2026 03:04AMScientists have long known that air quality affects running. It was a major concern in the 2008 Summer Olympics, for example, when runners had to compete under infamously polluted conditions in Beijing, China. Not to mention what many Americans have discovered back home, when their running routes are so choked with forest fire smoke that visibility is cut to only a couple of miles. But it isn’t just the air you breathe outside while training and racing that matters. At the UAE Tour, a premiere seven-day cycling stage race in February, early leader Remco Evenepoel fell…
The used-car e-commerce platform Carvana Co. (NYSE: CVNA) is planning to do something it has never done before: split its stock. If completed, the move will significantly reduce the per-share price of CVNA stock, without affecting the company’s total value. But first, it needs to be approved by shareholders. Here’s what you need to know about Carvana’s proposed stock split. What is a stock split? A stock split is a mechanism by which a company can increase or decrease the number of its shares by dividing those shares or combining them. There are two types of stock splits: a forward…
