Hello again, and welcome back to Fast Company’s Plugged In.More than 15 months ago, I wrote about Surf, a discovery engine for the social web from Flipboard—itself an earlier twist on the same concept dating to the early days of the iPad. At the time, it was still a rough draft, and in private beta. Rather than rushing it out to a broader audience, Flipboard took its time. The app went through a series of revisions that were both numerous and substantial, ending up significantly different than the intriguing prototype I tried in December 2024.This week, the company finally deemed Surf ready for…
This week, the labor movement in architecture scored a win. Sage & Coombe Architects, a women-led firm based in New York City, unanimously approved a collective bargaining agreement. It’s the second American practice to ratify a contract, after Bernheimer Architecture in 2024.“This contract, the second in the industry, sets a standard for workers at Sage and Coombe and beyond,” Architectural Workers United (AWU), a group that has been helping firms organize, announced on April 1 via Instagram. The agreement’s details have yet to be made public. The milestone marks a significant move in the design industry’s unionizing efforts, especially after high-profile…

Published April 3, 2026 03:39AMWalking is a stellar form of low-impact cardio any time of year, but there’s something extra lovely about walking outside in the spring. Not only can the warmer weather feel amazing after a winter spent cooped up inside, but the chirping birds, budding flowers, and greening grass can provide a naturally energizing setting for getting your steps in.Then there are the compelling health benefits: A meta-analysis of six studies published in 2022 in the Journal of Clinical Medicine found that walking in nature effectively boosts mental health. And a separate review, published in 2023 in GeroScience,…
When the server walked past our table, my hand shot upward like a high schooler eager to answer the teacher’s question.“Can we get two more of the same, please?” I asked upon getting his attention. “Another round of espresso martinis? I got you, boss.”Leona grinned and nodded in approval, as expected. We go back like four flats on a Cadillac. From study buddies back at the G.O.A.T. HBCU to marketing professionals putting in work for thriving companies, we’ve remained a two-person support system. It’s a celebration every time we link up. So it’s only right that we throw back a few…

Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Entrepreneurs are no strangers to the question, “What comes next?”This question comes up after major milestones, a strong year, an exit or that moment your business finally feels stable. There’s a version of this question that emerges once success is no longer theoretical. It becomes less about what is possible and more about what you may want, not for the company, but for yourself. The question becomes: Are any of the new goals on my list actually for me? Success creates opportunity. New career moves open up, more connections are made and your…

Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Key Takeaways Prior to any trade show, ensure the entire internal team is aligned on what the key messaging will be. When a reporter carves out time for you, make it count. Cap meetings at a maximum of 30 minutes unless the conversation is flowing naturally and they’re clearly engaged. Once the show wraps, monitor for coverage using free tools like Google Alerts, and compile a results report. For many marketing teams, trade shows are a necessary evil. Between the booth costs, travel expenses and staff time away from regular duties, the…
