Key Takeaways Scaling during downturns lowers costs, unlocks talent, and captures market share Companies that keep investing while others cut back gain long-term advantages Crises shift customers and investors toward bold, efficient and growth-focused businesses Growth investors invested $425 billion into over 24,000 private companies, and that’s 30% more compared to the year before. But there’s a point: nearly 60% of that amount of money went to a group of 629 companies. Iran’s top diplomat on Friday headed to Pakistan, where officials have been trying to get the United States and Iran to convene for a second round of ceasefire negotiations. The trip comes as much of the world is on edge over a war that has snarled crucial energy exports through the Strait of Hormuz, clouded the global economic picture, and left thousands dead across the Middle East. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote on X that he was on his way to Pakistan, Oman, and Russia on a trip focused on “bilateral matters and regional developments.” The White House did not immediately…

If there’s no clear strategy behind it, it can hurt engagement and conversions. AI amplifies what already exists. It can enhance and accelerate performance, but only when the underlying strategy is already strong. It doesn’t fix a weak strategy — it amplifies it. Success with AI in marketing requires clear positioning, clear messaging and human oversight. Over the past year, AI has rapidly become part of how businesses create content, run…

The Trump administration is putting America on the fast track to a good trip. On Friday, April 24, the Food and Drug Administration granted an expedited review process to three experimental psychedelic drugs. It issued priority vouchers to three currently unnamed companies, two of which are expected to research psilocybin as a treatment for depression, and one that will study a drug called methylone, a stimulant similar to MDMA (the main ingredient in the street drug ecstasy), for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Those vouchers shorten the FDA’s review process from its standard 10 to 12 months to just one…

Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Key Takeaways Utility patents expire after 20 years. Long-term protection comes from continuously improving the product, filing follow-on patents and building patent families that evolve with the market. Patents aren’t reserved for breakthroughs. Refined formulations, manufacturing efficiencies, improved delivery systems and system-level or software refinements all qualify. Patent expiration gives competitors freedom to copy, but if your company innovates fast enough, early patents will only describe outdated versions that no competitor would want to copy anyway. A question I’m asked frequently, by founders, innovation managers and members of patent committees alike, sounds…

Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. If you asked almost any group of executives about innovation, they would likely say they value it.In my experience, leaders behind some of the strongest companies in the country describe innovation as a force multiplier — the thing that separates leaders from followers. But inside most organizations, innovation often triggers something else entirely: fear. For an idea to be implemented, it has to survive a journey through the organization. Most innovations don’t fail in the boardroom. They fail somewhere in the middle. Don’t dismiss small problems — they signal bigger breakdownsAccording to a…
