Apple iPhone Air: will the first folding iPhone ship in white only?

Apple is expected to release its first folding iPhone, rumored to be called the iPhone Ultra, this fall. And a new report says that there won’t be a black version, only white — which would be a notable break with tradition.
The report comes from serial leaker Sonny Dickson, who has revealed detailed images which claim to be a folding iPhone dummy in a post on X.
“First look at the iPhone Fold dummy unit. It doesn’t look like Apple will offer multiple colors, with white currently appearing to be the only option,” he said.
A Radical Departure From Apple Tradition
Black versions of Apple devices are de rigueur, so to omit one for the initial folding iPhone would be a surprise. And it would also mean the foldable would be the first iPhone since 2007, when the original model was released, that was only available in one color.
As such, the rumor seems almost far-fetched.
The Growing Consensus Around A White iPhone Ultra
But Sonny Dickson’s comments come just a couple of days after another leaker, Ice Universe, showed an image on Weibo of the folding iPhone — and that image also showed the phone in a white hue and no others.
Another leaker, Instant Digital, claimed back in February that only one color was confirmed, as they put it, and that color was white.
Multiple leaks do not mean that a rumor becomes a certainty, though the additional authority that comes from additional reports from reliable sources add up to something.
I find it surprising that there’s no black, or space gray, or similar-named version predicted. Time will tell.
