With the right perspective, and the right vehicle, you can find Adventure Everywhere

    Published June 16, 2026 11:57AM

The Pacific Ocean is the obvious draw, but San Diego goes beyond its SoCal-cool image and delivers a community that’s full of culture and surrounded by adventure.

Adventure Everywhere with a vehicle that elevates every drive, whether you’re heading to Pearl Street to shop or traveling to a state park.

Meet the capable and versatile 2027 Telluride X-Pro and Telluride Turbo-Hybrid.

    Black’s Beach

You want coastal drama? Black’s Beach has drama. This two-mile-long sandy beach in La Jolla is flanked by 300-foot cliffs and claims some of San Diego’s largest waves, especially in winter.

    Torrey Pines Gliderport

If you want the best view in the area, you have to take to the air. The Torrey Pines Gliderport, perched atop the cliffs above Black’s Beach, gives you a chance to experience tandem paragliding flights where you’ll soar above the coast. But you don’t have to leave the ground to enjoy the spot: The sunsets over the Pacific are epic.

    Mission Beach Boardwalk

The Mission Beach Boardwalk is an iconic SoCal scene. Picture 3.5 miles of paved path, with the beach on one side and rows of shops, restaurants, and houses on the other. The boardwalk connects the towns of Mission Beach and Pacific Beach. Choose your mileage and your preferred mode of transportation: stroll, run, skate, or bike. It’s all good.

    Anza-Borrego Desert Mountain State Park

Two hours east of San Diego, this 600,000-acre park is full of desert vibes, with primitive 4WD roads, super-blooming wildflowers, and remote canyons choked with cacti and ocotillo. Grab a campsite at Borrego Palm Canyon Campground, and hike the three-mile round-trip into Borrego Canyon proper, where an oasis of palm trees awaits.

    Cabrillo National Monument

This national monument on the tip of Point Loma preserves the spot where the first European set foot on the West Coast, way back in 1542. Today, visitors will find a trio of hiking trails with coastal views, tide pools that collect marine life, and a scenic drive along Point Loma that offers views of the Pacific on one side (look for whales in winter) and downtown San Diego on the other.

    Fiesta Island

A peninsula jutting into Mission Bay, Fiesta Island is a 463-acre public park featuring sandy beaches, grassy meadows, and an expansive dog park. A series of fire rings along the shore makes this the perfect spot to light a bonfire as the sun goes down. Rings are first come/first serve.

    Quivira Basin

Tucked into the side of Mission Bay, Quiver Basin is an expansive marina with lines of docked sail-boats and whale-watching tour boats. It’s a popular place to rent kayaks to paddle the bay’s calm waters, and anglers love the long, extended jetty that separates the San Diego River from Mission Bay, both of which meet the Pacific at the tip. All of that moving water makes for a fertile fishing ground loaded with spotted sand bass.

    La Jolla Shores

There’s no shortage of surfing in San Diego, but La Jolla Shores takes the crown for beginner breaks. This expansive beach is known for its mellow, consistent waves that break over sandbars. An established array of board rentals and on-site lessons makes it the perfect place to catch your first wave.

    Cotixan Mexican Food

San Diego has plenty of taco options, but Cotixan Mexican Food is the most beloved choice when you’re looking for authentic dishes in the wee hours. It’s open 24 hours, which means you can get its signature carne asada burrito whenever your adventure ends.

    Little Italy Mercato

Little Italy is one of the best-established neighborhoods in San Diego. Just off North San Diego Bay, its streets are lined with cafés, boutiques, and parks. It’s a pedestrian-friendly destination, especially if you show up on Saturdays, when Little Italy Mercato is in session. This is the largest farmers’ market in the city, filling six blocks with vendors.

Headquartered in Irvine, California, Kia America continues to top automotive quality surveys. Kia is recognized as one of the TIME World’s Most Sustainable Companies of 2025. Kia serves as the “Official Automotive Partner” of the NBA and WNBA and offers a range of gasoline, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles sold through a network of nearly 800 dealers in the U.S., including several SUVs proudly assembled in America.
