The competition really heats up with the Impossible Climb, a diabolical mountain bike ascent riddled with obstacles

    Published July 14, 2026 10:30AM

The athletes have been going hard for days, but they have to find a new gear in Episode 6. That’s because they haven’t seen anything like the Impossible Climb, a test of mountain biking skill, strength, and endurance that promises to separate the contenders from the champions. It’s diabolical, it’s full of head-to-head drama, and it’s exactly why Outside created Ultimate Mountain Athlete in collaboration with Toyota Trucks.

After the Flow and Downhill courses of Episode 5, the athletes trade two-wheel fun and high-speed thrills for an uphill battle for the ages. The final mountain biking event will put the leaders within reach of the grand prize. But after the athletes recover from the Impossible Climb, it’s back to the snow for the last event—and one more chance to be crowned Ultimate Mountain Athlete.
