After 77 years of iconic ski films, Warren Miller is asking a question never posed before: What do the world’s greatest skiers and snowboarders do on a day off?

Days Off celebrates skiing for skiing’s sake. This fall, Warren Miller’s new narrator and host, Katie Burrell, is taking audiences from backcountry laps to heli drops and the après in between with the world’s best to find out what they do when they slow down and rediscover the art of the day off.

Tickets are on sale now and run throughout North America until late December. Find a screening near you here.

A Family Adventure at Blanket Park Chalet

Marty Shaffer, founder of backcountry ski company CaPow, knows how to take a day off. The film features his annual trip to Blanket Park Chalet in Revelstoke, British Columbia. Shaffer’s parents bought the helicopter-access-only A-frame cabin in 1986, a month before he was born.

“Back then, it was a bunch of granola munchers,” Shaffer told Outside. “For years growing up, it was hard to get people to ski with me.”

Now, he and his wife run guide-curated backcountry ski trips with their two young boys. Burrell was also Shaffer’s first employee, and bringing her back to the chalet held a special place in the film.

“The story and the segment are super meaningful for my family because we filmed, and then ten days later, we had our second kid,” Shaffer said. “It’s special to me because it’s a story that we were able to tell at a very specific time in our life, and the magic of our family.”

Shaffer invited Burrell on the friends-and-family trip, and when she accepted the Warren Miller hosting position, she asked if she could bring a film crew

“It’s a special time for us to be up there with family,” Shaffer said. “Working as a guide and having a small business, this is one of our only times to really enjoy Blanket with our family and away from all the chaos.”

Shaffer has been watching Warren Miller films for ages, and said this year’s film reflects on the importance of relationships, slowing down, taking time off, and getting outside.

    Now Screening Across North America

The film includes seven other segments shot across three continents, taking audiences from the remote heli-skiing terrain of Alaska and high-alpine mountaineering of Chamonix, France, to legendary powder of Hokkaido, Japan, and the pristine slopes of Deer Valley, Utah. The journey continues through the heart of Canada’s best ski destinations—Whistler, Pemberton, and Banff—capturing the sport’s raw spirit through backcountry snowmobiling, skijoring, and endless alpine pursuit.

Burrell joins athletes and industry professionals on their days off—unscripted runs, backcountry lodges, and local traditions that live just beneath the ski industry’s surface.

Hundreds of showings are still on deck, spanning the U.S. and Canada. Some events will feature giveaways, others will have surprise guests, and all will build community and stoke excitement around our favorite season: winter

Other featured athletes include Sam Kuch, Craig Murray, Jess Kimura, Marie-France Roy, Christina Lustenberger, Guillaume “Gee” Pierrel, Craig McMorris, Sebastian Judge, Mark Sollors, Truth Smith, Court “Blackbird” Larabee, Mason Mashon, Kaylin Richardson, Ted Ligety, Chuck and Claudia Mumford, Pep Fujas, Sam Mitchell, Marty Schaffer, Kate VanHee, and Himari Takamori, Hinano Sakamoto, Shizuku Hanada, among others.

Warren Miller’s Days Off is presented with support from Mammut, Deer Valley, Brooks, REI Co-op, Swany, Silverton Mountain, DryBrew, and in production with Outside Studios.

    Winter’s greatest tradition is back.
