A number of Subway restaurants have closed their doors after their owner filed for bankruptcy, the latest wave of store closures to impact a large franchisee of a major fast-food chain this year. Affiliates of MTF Subs, which together operate dozens of Subway restaurants across four states, have rejected the leases for six locations, court records reviewed by Fast Company show. Additional stores could also close, as the franchisee has been evaluating the remainder of its store footprint. A bankruptcy judge recently gave the franchisee until August to decide if it will reject additional store leases. The six shuttered restaurants,…

Jurek, who broke the FKT record on the Appalachian Trail in 2015, fuels with legumes, whole grains—and vegan ice cream.Published June 16, 2026 03:00AMMany of us rely on meat to achieve our protein goals. According to research published in 2021, between 63 percent and 74 percent of people in North America eat meat-based protein on any given day. This includes both red and processed meat, which are both classified as carcinogens by the World Health Organization. Enter: more people shifting toward incorporating plant-based foods into their diets or opting for a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. In fact, the plant-based retail market…
A few years ago during a financially uncertain time for our family, I tried to motivate my husband the same way I motivate myself: with anxiety. I’d paint the worst-case scenario, hoping that fear would make him more engaged with our strained household finances. Fear and anxiety motivate me brilliantly, because I’m an anxious achiever. Fear and anxiety made him check out. This was a pattern in our marriage, and it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize I wasn’t dealing with a character flaw or a communication problem; no one was right or wrong. My husband and I…

We’re living through the most answer-rich moment in human history. Need a market analysis? A product brief? A launch strategy? AI can generate something polished in seconds. Some of it still makes my jaw drop. But there’s a growing risk inside companies that I don’t think leaders are talking about enough: Fast answers can create the illusion of understanding. Increasingly, organizations are mistaking speed for insight. A few months ago, my team at SurveyMonkey noticed an uptick in customer churn, and we reacted quickly. We rolled out new messaging and retention campaigns because everyone assumed the issue was customer dissatisfaction.…

For fans lucky enough to make their way to a World Cup game this season, they might spot cheering fans, overpriced snacks and, of course, soccer. One thing they will not see is logos from non-FIFA sponsors—even if their name is on the stadium. But one brand is leaning into this limitation. Due to a “debranding” mandate from FIFA, companies with naming rights to stadiums across the 16 host cities in Mexico, Canada, and the United States are seeing their names and logos temporarily removed from the venues. Consider MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Since MetLife is not an official…
