After the usual round of strategy conversations, my client sat down to write his strategy document. It had been percolating in his head for days. Then, when he sat down, nothing happened. Strategy and strategic thinking are of the utmost importance as the bedrock and guidance for organizations, but creating them requires your brain to work well. Understanding how the brain supports performance is useful not only for strategy work but also across many leadership tasks. Although the brain contains around 80 billion neurons with countless connections, two systems matter most here: the analytic network and the limbic system. 2…
The new Audio-Techica ATH-WP900SE headphones are based on Audio-Tecnica’s ATH-WP900 model. The headphones are closed back and use a 53mm dynamic driver.AUDIO-TECHNICABack in the 1970s, almost every wannabe guitarist aspired to owning a Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster with the classic sunburst finish. Now, half a century on, the sunburst finish is making a comeback in the form of a new pair of closed-back headphones from Japan’s Audio-Technica. The new ATH-WP900SE headphones…

ToplineFor some, SpaceX’s initial public offering (IPO) of shares on the Nasdaq stock index this week appears to be all about rockets. After all, the company has built its reputation launching satellites on its reusable Falcon 9 rockets, shuttling crew and cargo to and from the International Space Station and developing Starship, the largest rocket ever flown. If Starship succeeds in driving launch costs dramatically lower, the next question is what gets built in orbit. From Starlink broadband and orbital data centers to space-based solar power, here’s what a $2 trillion SpaceX might actually build.gettyKey FactsStarship is designed to carry more…
There’s an art to doing nothing and I have spent years trying to perfect it. Some people master the violin, others train to run marathons. I have dedicated my early forties to the delicate balance of achieving maximum results with minimal effort. In fact, my entire second career as an author and coach, which started in my late thirties, was born out of a need to declutter and have and do less. I have nothing, literally, to thank for it. Choosing when to be lazy, or strategic laziness, as I call it, could unlock your best work yet, without it…
At TCS’s 31st annual general meeting on June 9, N. Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons, described AI as the largest growth opportunity in the company’s history. He predicted that TCS will soon run as many AI agents as it employs people, and that governing AI systems will become the next recurring revenue annuity for the firm. The optimism is understandable, but the threat from AI agents is more immediate than the opportunity. The same modernization work that built the Indian IT services industry is now being automated by the hyperscalers these firms resell. Amazon’s AWS Transform deploys AI agents that handle…
At a sprawling new plant near farm fields in Washington State, CO2 is now being turned into jet fuel—and passenger flights will likely begin using it later this month. The facility, called AirPlant One, officially opened today. It belongs to Twelve, a startup that has spent the last decade developing the tech to convert CO2 into useful products. Now that’s beginning to happen at commercial scale. “You have a CO2 molecule going in at one end of the plant, and it is getting transformed into on-spec jet fuel on the other side,” says CEO and cofounder Nicolas Flanders. A large…

The pandemic-era home price explosion was especially pronounced for luxury homes, but more than five years later, most of that growth has fizzled out. In a new report, Realtor.com examined luxury listings around the country and found that outside of two unique markets, pandemic appreciation in the upper echelons of the housing market hasn’t been outdone in the years since. Only Minneapolis-St. Paul and Boise have seen recent prices best previous highs, with luxury homes now sitting at 5% and 4% above their pandemic peaks, respectively. While Minneapolis-St. Paul’s luxury home prices only ticked up by 17.6% during the home…
