Another ‘Crimson Desert’ Patch Adds Even More Mounts, New Combat Moves

    Crimson Desert

    @turtleskomadori

Crimson Desert continues to crank out patches on a weekly basis, sometimes bi-weekly at this point, and players woke up to find another one today. What’s in it? It’s not the biggest one, but it’s some cool stuff, minus I keep having a specific problem with some of these new additions, and I know other players are as well.

    More Boss Rematches

They didn’t get all the bosses in the rematch system before, so they have added these new ones. So far as I can tell there is still no real reason to do these other than challenge, given that they don’t hand out actual rewards:

    • Muskan: Bonepit
    • Corrupted Caliburn: Fort Musket
    • Goyen: Spire of the Sun
    • Draven, the Crowcaller: Church of West Demeniss
    • Clockwork White Horn: Gate to Advancement

Ones that were formerly in the Abyss are now fightable on land in those locations.

    More Combat Skills

    • Damiane now has more unarmed combat skills under “Fists” in the skill menu
    • Damiane and Oongka now have Kliff’s Aerial Stab move
    • Kliff now has Blinding Flash Finisher for unarmed combat
    • Past that, for Oongka they added a charge phase to Explosive Strikes and improved chaining into Stab.
    • For Damiane they improved her general movement animation while unarmed (her attacks are so fast now)

    New Mounts

    • New wolf and bear types added as mounts
    • New reins for certain mounts

There are two problems with these constant additions I might dive deeper into later, but they are:

    1) Many of the new mounts are inaccessible if you have already killed certain legendary bosses. I cannot get the new tiger and lion mounts from the last patch because I killed the main ones and all of those fled. And I have not seen a single wolf in the game since I killed both legendary ones, meaning I cannot get today’s new wolf mounts, it seems. Previously, we were given items to get legendary mounts we’d previously killed, but the game does not repopulate the map with carnivorous animals. I have seen some players saying these animals have respawned for them after this patch, but that is not true for me.

    2) All of these changes to Oongka and Damiane are great, in theory, but there is still no coherent path to invest skill points in these characters. I am at 300 hours and I am finally close to “finishing” Damiane in terms of gear and skills. And I’m still probably 30 skill points away at that. I have literally nothing sunk into Oongka. The addition of respawning enemies now is good, but it still takes a long time to even earn a single skill point from that, even with XP gears on. They need to figure out a way to distribute these skill points so these characters are more usable. Hopefully, that happens soon.
