Greenwich Village, June 1969: Law enforcement raids a gay bar called the Stonewall Inn. What happened next was a riot—police batons, broken glass, violence—that led, eventually, to a revolution. The LGBTQIA+ community reclaimed June as a celebration, known as Pride Month. Now, June is synonymous with rainbows, joy, parades, and yes, running.

Thirteen years after Stonewall, the first Pride Run was held in New York City, with the Front Runners New York, New York Road Runners, and the city coming together to organize a 4-mile Pride race in Central Park. Like Pride Month itself, Pride runs have exploded in popularity and are known to be some of the best running parties of the year. Expect epic post-race parties with DJs, costumes, food, and beverages waiting across the finish line.

Most of these races, many of which are 5Ks, benefit local LGBTQIA+ initiatives, making your modest race entry fee worth it. You can now find hundreds (if not thousands) of Pride Month races across the country, including the 11 listed below, to celebrate Pride Month with a bang. (All the runs are listed in chronological order.)

    • When: June 20, 2026
    • Where: Seattle, Washington

Run a 4K or 8K (one or two loops around Seattle’s Seward Park) at this fun run presented by the Front Runners and Seattle Pride. And because it’s not a 5K distance, you could earn a PR, all for a good cause.

    • When: June 20, 2026
    • Where: East Meadow, New York

The Never Stop Running Foundation is organizing this community event at Eisenhower Park to bring awareness to PFY, a Division of Long Island Crisis Center that advocates for LGBTQIA+ individuals.

    • When: June 21, 2026
    • Where: Los Angeles, California

Pride Run 2026 marks the 43rd running of the Los Angeles Front Runners Pride Run, which includes 5K and 10K races that benefit Friends of Griffith Park, Let’s Go Run!, and ProjectQ Salon & Community Center, a queer POC-owned hair salon.

    • When: June 22, 2026
    • Where: Chicago, Illinois

The Monday evening event from the Fleet Feet Lakeview store includes a fun run and decorating the sidewalks with Pride messages.

    • When: June 22, 2026
    • Where: Poughkeepsie, New York

This untimed 5K fun run, organized by Fleet Feet Poughkeepsie, benefits the Dutchess Pride Center, a non-profit organization that serves as a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community living in and around Dutchess County.

    • When: June 27, 2026
    • Where: New York City, New York

For more than 40 years, Front Runners New York has raised money for the LGBTQIA+ community, and the annual 4-mile run is a cornerstone event of Pride Month. Saying it’s well-attended is an understatement. In 2019, the run broke the Guinness World Record for the largest pride charity run with over 10,200 finishers.

    • When: June 27, 2026
    • Where: Chicago, Illinois

The Proud to Run 5K and 10K runs at Montrose Beach benefit mission-driven LGBTQIA+ non-profits and communities across Chicago.

    • When: June 27, 2026
    • Where: San Francisco, California

One of the country’s premier Pride Month races, the San Francisco Pride Run is a well-organized, volunteer-run event that welcomes runners of all levels and abilities. This year, the fundraising efforts will benefit Rafiki Coalition, whose mission is to eliminate health inequities in San Francisco’s Black, LGBTQIA+, and marginalized communities.

    • When: June 27, 2026
    • Where: West Palm Beach, Florida

The sixth annual Pride 5K Run/Walk presented by Night Runner is part of an LGBTQIA+ celebration that encompasses family fun and community unity through running and walking, and benefits Vita Nova Inc., a non-profit that creates a safe bridge to independence for former foster care, LGBTQIA+, and other homeless youth.

    • When: June 27, 2026
    • Where: Denver, Colorado

This 5K’s usual venue at Civic Center Park is under construction, so the 5K will start and end at Cheesman Park instead, and PrideFest is moving to the 16th Street pedestrian promenade. Despite some venue shifts, the annual festival includes more than 250 exhibitors, food and beverage vendors, and live entertainment.

    • When: June 28, 2026
    • Where: Minneapolis, Minnesota

With a Rainbow Run 5K and a Rainbow Kid’s Dash, Twin Cities Pride knows how to get the community to rally around a cause. You can also start celebrating early with a shakeout run/walk on Monday, June 22.
