You get a sweatsuit! You get a sweatsuit! And YOU get a sweatsuit!

“We maaaaaaade it!” Oprah booms in her signature joyful alto. Behind her, “fall is falling,” as she puts it: orange and yellow trees blazing against a bluebird Colorado sky.
The other bright colors in her recent Instagram reel? Her neon purple Aviator Nation sweatsuit and pink sunglasses—an instantly iconic hiking look that sent me straight down a Poshmark rabbit hole. She’s also sporting LEKI cork-grip trekking poles, Salomon X Ultra 4 Mid GORE-TEX hiking boots (now sold out, but the latest model is available at REI), an Osprey fanny pack, and her go-to wide-brimmed Akubra hat.
It’s not the first time Oprah has rocked a matching sweatsuit outdoors. She posted the lilac Aviator Nation sweatsuit on October 26, 2025, in an Instagram carousel that also featured her in a light blue sweatsuit.
As a comfort-first gal who doesn’t think you need to spend hundreds of dollars to go outside, I needed that comfy sweatshirt-and-sweatpants combo in my closet ASAP. Unfortunately, her exact outfit is no longer available—so I found four cozy, colorful dupes that’ll have you glowing as brightly as the foliage on your own fall hikes.
Aviator Nation Classic Striped Crew Sweatshirt and 5 Stripe Sweatpants

While the exact outfit Oprah wore to hike in Colorado seems to be gone for good, Aviator Nation has plenty of similar looks you can still shop. This sweatshirt and sweatpants set claims to be “the most comfortable sweatpants you’ll ever own,” and honestly, I see no evidence to the contrary. A heads-up on sizing: The sweatpants run small, while the sweatshirts run large. The material is a tri-blend fabric of 50% polyester, 38% cotton, 12% rayon—not the most technical material around, and I’d expect it to pill and snag on brushy trails.
Warning: You WILL look a bit like Barney in this purple sweatsuit, but at least no one will miss you on the trail. If Barney isn’t your vibe, there are plenty of tamer colors, too.
REI Co-op Swiftland Long-Sleeve T-Shirt and Trailmade Barrel Pants

For a more affordable alternative to Oprah’s pricey hiking sweatsuit, go straight to REI—do not pass Go. REI’s in-house line is easy on the wallet and technically capable. The Purple Nebula shade is closest to Oprah’s purple, but don’t sleep on the more classic earth tones. (There’s also a lightweight thermal hoodie I have my eye on…)
Halfdays Nellie Packable Puffer Jacket and Irene Pant

I can personally vouch for this outfit: I recently wore it hiking and touristing in Wisconsin, and it was insanely comfortable from tip to tail. The puffer jacket wrapped me in a cocoon of warmth, yet it’s both lightweight and adorably oversized (ideal for layering later this winter). The track pants made me feel Gen Z-cool: just baggy enough to move easily, but not so baggy that I was tripping over my pant legs. I own this set in Rouge (the bright red option), and I’m wearing it as often as I can get away with without being dubbed an outfit repeater.
SENIQ Hiking Trail System: Includes Base Layer, Second Layer, and Bottoms

SENIQ’s ingenious “system” shopping method takes the guesswork out of what you need for any given day on the trail: one base layer, one mid layer, and one bottom layer, all laid out on one page so you can mix and match coordinating or clashing pieces to your heart’s content. Bonus: Shop the system and you get 15% off all three items in your cart.
